from Reviews "...This is fabulous, I can't even articulate what I feel well enough for you to understand." review for "Nu" at collected sounds |
| "Edie's debut Shades introduced a strong performer, her second album sees her progress further. She has a marvelous voice with shades of Sinead O'Connor's primal power and here it comes to its fullest bloom."La di da" sees her sing a melody against an unusual keyboard arrangement. "Ready and Whole" is a bleak anti-folk ballad that resonates strongly. A mandolin chimes in thrillingly. "Ca y est" is sung in French. It's a charming and soft song. "As good as it gets" is a sublime number with a slight resemblance to Heather Nova. Edie's a fabulous artist and she's on her way to make a classic record. Nu is very close to being that record. For now it's merely fabulous. " from Lunakafe.com , by Anna Maria Stjarnell |

"I find Shades quite entrancing. they [the songs] sound so lovely and strong that I highly, highly recommend this disc. I really like what she's accomplished here and think she shows a heap of promise." Neile on "Shades" from Ectophile's guide to music |
| "Edie is stukken breder en beter
genietbaar.
| "Edie's music brings up an image of Marianne Faithful making out with Jane
Birkin, with Nico watching" Robin Eaton, writer/producer |
| "Edie's
tracks sound like captured moments of creative outbursts as opposed to
crisply planned songs. Edie's attempts to take on everything are not lost
exercises, as her voice manages to carry any style, Edie possesses more
talent than most signed artists." [from KittyMagik.com] |
| Here's
Edie!! Who's heard the single "Ca y Est" by Edie? Beautiful, isn't it? In French, yes, but not sung by a 'Francaise'. This Edie [Edith Pijpers, 29] is Ducth and lives in Nashville after years of voyaging through places like Paris, Sydney and Los Angeles. First she modeled for a living, now she sings and writes beautiful songs in French and English which hold their own between artists such as Jane Birkin, Kate Bush and sometimes remind of Sinead O'Connor. Mostly Edie's songs are just very "Edie": intense and emotional, sweet and beautiful, smart and powerful, esoteric and acoustic and most of all: unconventional. Edie does not write chickmusic, no easy lyrics on easily digestable melodies. What she does make is music that slowly , subtilly sips through, to eventually bring you some genuine happiness.
